My therapist said something to me once that I think about all the time.

I was spiralling, you know the days you are questioning everything. “Am I doing enough? Am I messing them up? Is this going to be the thing they talk about in therapy someday?”

And she looked at me and said: “The fact that you’re asking that question? That’s your answer.”

If you’re worried about whether you’re a good enough mom, YOU ARE! You’re already trying. And that’s exactly what they need.

Not a perfect mom. A present one. ✨

I teach this in my group program and every single time, at least one person puts their hand over their mouth like, “Oh, that’s what that is. That makes sense”

Polyvagal theory sounds fancy but it’s just this: your body has a built in alarm system. And sometimes it gets stuck in alarm mode even when the danger has passed.

So if you find yourself in rooms full of people you love, still scanning for the threat? That’s your nervous system doing its thing.

It doesn’t mean you’re broken. It means your body is loyal. Sometimes a little too loyal.

We can work with that. 🌿
