💔 A skilled midwife in B.C. could be forced to leave over a paperwork issue.

Heather Gilchrist, a Victoria-based midwife from the U.K., is facing deportation after her work permit was denied due to a missing English test submission — despite being a native English speaker.

She says the application process didn’t clearly allow her to upload the results at the time.

The situation is raising concerns about how immigration rules may be impacting healthcare workers and patients in need.

As the husband and wife team behind the Community Birth Program and the Village Health Clinic, Dr. Brian Gluvic and Dr. Trang Duong wanted to share the clinic update with you. After 25+ years in the Panorama Village Shopping Centre, we are undergoing a shift in the practice. After January 31, 2025 we are retiring the prenatal and birth care portion of the clinic.

Naturopathic care and lactation consultant services will continue in a new way for the clinic.

We will continue accepting appointments for past, current & new patients for naturopathic care and lactation consultant services.

Dr. Gluvic will shift his naturopathic practice to predominantly virtual care, continuing to share his 25+ years of experience caring for families with science-based functional health approaches.

Dr. Duong is retiring from delivering babies and shifting her naturopathic practice to virtual visits. She will continue to provide natural health care to families and consultations for pregnant and postpartum clients seeking natural health approaches for common pregnancy and postpartum concerns.

Sandra will continue the LATCH Clinic lactation consultant services in homes and in her home office.
