As we continue our story about 50 years of Moby’s we want to tell you a about a very special person - Perry — Moby Dick’s first crew member!

He joined in 1975 during the first year in business, and it didn’t take long for Claudia and Peter to notice his dedication and energy. Perry was instantly hired after Claudia and Peter had met him on the promenade! From there, Perry quickly became a cornerstone of the Moby Dick crew.

Fun fact: Talent runs in the family — his sisters Trina and Jacky also joined the team not long after! We’re lucky to have them all as part of the Moby Dick story.

Perry was the first to take the leap—and in doing so, he opened the door for thousands more. Since then, so many incredible servers, cooks, and managers have become the heartbeat of our Moby’s family. Here’s to the ones who make the magic happen, day in and day out.

✨ A Look Back in Time: The History of Our Building ✨
Before Peter Mueller established Moby Dick’s, our building had a rich history of its own! Originally built and owned by Nicola and Mary Louise (Beaulieu) Messere, the lot—once known as 662 Washington Avenue (now 15479 Marine Drive)—was purchased by the Messere family in 1941. They demolished the old structure and built a new one, featuring shops on the ground floor and living quarters upstairs.
👞 Up-To-Date Shoe Repair was the first business to call this space home. On the west side, Mr. Messere ran the shoe repair shop, while on the east side, Mrs. Messere operated a cozy coffee and pastry shop. Over the years, the building has housed a variety of businesses, including a drug store and a jewelry store, as seen in old photos.
Next to the original Moby Dick’s building, you can also spot our extended side, which was once home to an old fish ‘n’ chips shop! 🐟🍟
