I didn’t know plane windshields got manually squeegeed until last week and honestly it changed me a little.

I was away from the farm — which, if you know me, you know that does something to my nervous system after a few days — but we did make it to Spruce Meadows and if you’ve never been, add it to the list.

Anyway. Squeegees.

When we can’t see where we’re going — when the goal goes blurry and the noise gets loud — we don’t think “I need a squeegee.” We think something has gone wrong.

Nothing has gone wrong. You just need to clean the glass.

The bugs on your windshield have names. Old stories. Other people’s opinions that somehow got louder than your own voice. Self-doubt that shows up right on schedule every time you get close to something that matters.

None of that means stop. It means pause and deal with what’s in the way.

Slow down to speed up. Then keep going.

February called us dramatic.

March proved us right.

There is something about the first ride back in the sand ring after a long winter that fixes things no therapy session ever could.

The footing softens.
The horses exhale.
We exhale.

And somehow the list of things we were all spiraling about gets about 80% shorter.
