This was an award that hit different because it was about more than just performance.

Receiving the Sport BC Harry Jerome Comeback Award is an absolute honour, not because of anything I achieved but because of the person I can now see that I have become…. Because of sport.

A year ago when I was diagnosed with cancer I started to repeat a phrase over and over again:

It’s going to get hard before it gets good.

Deep down I knew that the road ahead was not going to be easy but I focused on what could be and continued to do what was in my control.

I owe so much to sport, including the mindset that helped me manage one of my biggest challenges yet. That’s what makes this award even sweeter.

A massive thank you to the sport community in BC.

✨ Go Softball!!! Am I right? It was an honour to stand in front of the room on behalf of our sport.
