Today in Paint Club, I’m showing members how to paint reflective metal garden tools … with a little peony bud — and how to make all those silvers, highlights, reflections, and subtle colour shifts suddenly make sense.
THIS is the kind of stuff that makes you feel like an artist.
Because once you understand how to SEE shiny surfaces…
a whole new world opens up in your painting.
And truly? It’s such a thrill when beautiful, realistic things begin appearing on your canvas under your own brush.

There's something about a greenhouse ...
Warm, humid, tropical — full of plants that belong somewhere far more exotic, yet growing bold and beautiful right in the middle of the city.
I'm back in that world now. New canvas, different corner of the garden — chasing that same lush, enveloping warmth. That cozy, almost dreamy feeling you only get when you're surrounded by tropical green.
The last painting I made inspired by this greenhouse found its way into a stunning home. My client said it makes her feel as though she's sleeping in a tropical garden every night.
If a place has ever stopped you in your tracks — that's a painting waiting to happen. 🌿
