I couldn't resist pulling out the camera for the opportunity to shoot a total solar eclipse. The weather and the universe didn't disappoint. What an amazing experience to witness a total solar eclipse! If you have the opportunity to see a total eclipse rather than a partial one you really need to do all you can do to give yourself that chance. I was blown away. The experience hits upon so many of your senses in such a way that it all comes together to fill you with wonder. The temperature dropped while getting darker as more of the sun was obscured. When the sun disappeared the crickets and frogs started chirping and of course you witness this ring of fire in the sky. On top of that some stars were visible and there was this orange/red colour around the entire horizon much like that of a sunrise or sunset. I was lucky enough to witness this with Alisa and all of the kids who were all also blown away by the magnitude of what we'd witnessed. The first question, "when is the next one because we need to see that again"? I sure do look forward to seeing this again!

"Misty Algonquin Sunrise"

I love when there is mist on the morning. It adds drama to every scene even something as simple as a rising sun and some trees.

"Hunger"

When chicks are hungry they definitely let the parents know. This one is hoping to get fed while still riding a parent even though it's perfectly capable of swimming after that meal. The parent seemed to lure the chick into the water with this fish.

"Gull chicks"

This was something I'd not seen before in Algonquin Park. There were two little gull chicks huddled together on a rock out in the lake. This was early morning and the mist was still burning off as the sun was beginning to warm everything. They've got a good natural camouflage on these rocks.

"Minimalist Morning"

Early morning mist cleans up the background and gives a very calming and peaceful feel to this shot of a lone gull on a rock shortly after sunrise.
