Our final day of competition in St. John's ended on two golden notes with Eloise earning gold and a JUNIOR NATIONAL QUALIFYING SCORE in the Girls B 1m event and Fiona winning gold in the Novice Girls C 1m event. Way to go! We spent the remainder of the day wandering around The Rooms, learning about the history of Newfoundland & Labrador and enjoying the art galleries. We are officially signing off from a fabulous trip to the rock. Next up... the Aspire Provincial Championships in London on June 13th and 14th!

The team in Newfoundland found time to visit a couple of spots today. First, we ventured up Signal Hill, where the first transatlantic wireless signal was received. Historically, it served as military barracks and gun battery defending the entrance to St. John's Harbour since the 1700's. Then we traveled to Topsail Beach to enjoy the beautiful evening weather and have a cookout with our competition host Edge Diving Club. Hotdogs and s'mores over an open fire... YUMMY!

It was a fantastic day of diving at the Newfoundland Provincials. So many great dives from athletes across all the clubs in attendance! KW Diving Club was no exception... medals, personal best scores and JUNIOR NATIONAL QUALIFYING SCORES for both Lauren (gold) and Beth (bronze) in the Girls A 1m event! Fiona won silver in Novice Girls C Platform, performing some dives for the very first time off 5m. And Eloise and Beth won silver and bronze respectively in the Women's Open 3m event. Way to go, everyone!
Some awesome dives in Newfoundland on Friday!

The team in Newfoundland had a very frigid, very windy trip to Cape Spear on Friday afternoon. Cape Spear is the most easterly point in not just Canada, but all of North America! The same family, the Cantwells, were keepers of the lighthouses (both the old and the new) for appropriately 150 years - 8 out of 11 keepers from 1836 to 1997 were Cantwells! There are also WW2 coastal defense bunkers and gun battery on site. Lots of history, and beautiful scenery!

All four KW Diving Club athletes saw action today at the Newfoundland Provincials. Congratulations to Eloise on her gold medal performance in the Girls B 3m event, achieving a JUNIOR NATIONAL QUALIFYING SCORE! Hooray! Lauren won gold and Beth won silver in the Girls A 3m, with Beth achieving a personal best score. Well done, girls! KWDC swept the podium in the Women's Open 1m with Lauren, Beth and Eloise winning gold, silver and bronze respectively. Our day at the pool ended with Fiona winning silver in Novice Girls C 3m. An excellent day of diving for everyone!

Coach Rob and four of our athletes landed on "the rock" yesterday to compete at the Newfoundland Provincials in St. John's. But first... a wilderness boat tour out of Bay Bulls. Puffins (thousands of them!), icebergs and amazing shorelines were all in view during the tour. Then we hit the pool in the afternoon for open practice. Our day concluded with a walk exploring downtown, and meeting some locals (including a super friendly dog!).
Competition begins Friday. Stay tuned for results!
