If you had only 5 minutes to evacuate your home, would you have everything your pet needs to stay safe and healthy? ๐พ๐
Here is a quick, veterinarian-approved checklist of what to pack in a waterproof container or backpack:
๐ซ Food & Water: A 7 day - 2 week supply of non-perishable food (and a manual can opener if using wet food) + plenty of fresh bottled water.
โ๏ธ Medical Essentials: A 2-week supply of any daily medications + a basic pet first-aid kit (gauze, vet wrap, antiseptic wipes, and tweezers).
๐ชช Proof of ID & Records: Physical copies of vaccination records, your microchip registry number, and a printed photo of you with your pet (in case you are separated).
๐พ Safety Gear: An extra collar/harness with up-to-date ID tags, a sturdy leash, and a secure carrier for transport.
๐ฉ Sanitation & Comfort: P**p bags (for dogs), a small container of litter/tray (for cats), paper towels, and a familiar blanket or toy to help soothe their anxiety.
โจ Pro-Tip: Set a repeating calendar reminder twice a year (like when the clocks change) to check expiration dates on your pet's food and medicine in the bag!
Does your pet have a go-bag ready? Tell us in the comments or drop a ๐พ if you're putting one together this weekend! ๐

๐พ Protecting the Paws that Can't Speak for Themselves ๐พ
Our commitment to care doesnโt stop at our doors. Itโs built into our DNA, and it's led by experts who dedicate their lives to those who cannot speak for themselves.
Today, we want to shine a spotlight on our very own Dr. Margaret Doyle; a healer by day and a forensic visionary by night.
When she isn't leading the charge at VCA Canada Riverbend Animal Hospital, Dr. Doyle is serving as a forensic veterinarian, uncovering the truth in the most difficult cases, and this week she is taking the stage at the International Veterinary Forensic Sciences Association (IVFSA) Conference to share critical insights into the intersection of animal welfare and criminal justice during the Court Testimony Workshop.

But not only is she speaking at external conferences, Dr. Margaret Doyle also hosts exclusive internal webinars across VCA Canada, and is:
โ
Educating our Associates on the subtle signs of non-accidental injury.
โ
Training our teams to recognize "The Link" between animal cruelty and domestic violence.
โ
Empowering our staff with the tools to be the first line of defense for pets in danger.
We don't just treat animals; we protect them. By educating our teams on the gravity of animal abuse, we are helping to create a safer world for both pets and the people who love them.
Our Standard. Our Promise.
Keep calm and dig on this with these gardening safety tips!

๐ We are incredibly proud to announce we are officially Great Place to Work Certified! ๐
Honestly, this one hits a little differently because itโs a direct reflection of our own teamโs voices. Itโs based on the honest feedback they gave about the respect, fairness, and camaraderie they feel when they walk through our doors every day.
To every single person that makes up VCA Canada: for showing up as yourselves and for making our culture what it is. Youโre the reason this badge exists.
So what does a 'Great Place to Work' actually look like? Hereโs a glimpse. ๐
