June is Seniors Month, and we’re celebrating the wisdom, experiences, and contributions of older adults in our community! 💙

Throughout the month, the Flamborough Connects Community Board will be transformed into a special space celebrating seniors. Stop by our office and fill out an inspirational card answering:
✨ “What I love about being a senior”
✨ “Words of wisdom from a senior”

We would love to fill the board with meaningful reflections, advice, memories, and joy from our community.

Can’t make it into the office? Send us a message with your response and we’ll happily add your card to the board for you!

Let’s celebrate the voices, stories, and wisdom of seniors all month long. 🌼

The City of Hamilton’s Engineering Services and CP Rail have refined the crane operating window for the Grindstone Creek Bridge project. As a result, the bridge will remain open on June 1. Further, between June 2 and June 5, the bridge will only be closed between 6am and 5pm daily, reopening to regular traffic and pedestrians at the end of each workday.

In addition, the pylons – and corresponding lane closure - have been removed on Dundas St between Avonsyde Blvd and Evans Rd. The pylons were in place as a traffic control element of the Grindstone Creek Bridge project, used to route the bulk of traffic onto Avonsyde and away from the construction area. The pylons and their deployment were in the control of bridge project managers, and not the City’s Transportation department.

With the temporary closure of Skinner Rd, rush hour traffic was heavily impacted, and traffic flow was overly burdened in this specific area. The Ward 15 Office registered the increasingly untenable traffic situation with the bridge project managers, and alongside the collective advocacy of concerned community members, the project mangers have agreed to change their protocol. This is a helpful and welcome modification. I want to thank our engaged and active community for helping create positive impact, particularly during the volume of infrastructure projects currently impacting Waterdown.
