B.C.’s largest union has set course for the next year after wrapping up the CUPE BC annual convention. A top priority for the union, representing over 120,000 workers in B.C., will be working to elect progressive candidates in the upcoming municipal elections. Further priorities included expanding and strengthening public services, improving workplace safety, and tackling chronic underfunding to B.C. post-secondary education.
President Ranalletta closed convention this afternoon by thanking delegates for their thoughtful and respectful debate, and for the hard work ahead of them... ready to work for the B.C. we want and deserve.

From workplace safety to the political landscape ahead, CUPE National President Mark Hancock emphasized the need for action at CUPE BC’s Convention 2026.
He spoke about the increasing risks of violence on the job and the importance of making health and safety a top priority, while also addressing the economic pressures facing workers. With municipal elections on the horizon, Hancock urged members to stay active and help elect leaders who will protect public services and respect workers.
Because safer workplaces and strong public services don’t happen by accident -they’re built by workers taking action.
