We stand with the movement for environmental justice, intersectionality, and Black Lives Matter. Today, and everyday going forward. Intersectional environmentalism was already important to our learning. Many of the Indigenous environmentalism publications I've read have been fundamental to my opinions on climate and action steps. But we weren't being vocal about this, and there are so many ways we as a studio that we can do better. It wasn't good enough. We have chosen to treat our pledge to learn how to be anti-racist like our Environmental Policies. As such, we have updated our yearly Environmental Impact guide to include a section on Intersectional Sustainability. This section is a permanent addition and will be revisited and improved upon, and updated every single year along with the rest of the report. This is to keep us accountable and to be extremely transparent where we stand to our clients, our followers and our colleagues here on Insta. There's simply not enough time to be passive or timid about human rights. We chose each pledge as something realistic we can achieve as a small studio that has been hit by COVID-19. Our pledge is available here in this carousel, but more information is available in our report (link in bio).

I wanted to do my take on trends I'd like to see take off in 2020 for graphic design. A lot of these rotate around someone deciding what colours are in or whether or not we should be using gradients still. What if we decided to choose our trends in a way that's planet-friendly, as well as client-friendly! Swipe to learn more!

So yesterday morning my partner showed me the new Bernie Sanders video "Amazon Workers for Bernie", that detailed the unsafe working conditions and rates of injury Amazon workers face in order to meet quotas and deliver packages to meet our demand for same-day/2-day shipping. Coming up with a fake warning label was actually his idea and I ended up making it for fun yesterday.
Reasons why this is important:
⚠️ Amazon worker injury rates in warehouses can be as high as 25%
⚠️Injury rates go UP during the holidays
⚠️Workers commonly experience wrist, knee, back pain, spinal injury, concussions, and chronic pain
⚠️If workers do not meet quotas, they are fired
⚠️Emergency health-care services in warehouses will send employees that are concussed/injured back to work to meet quotas
So what, as consumers, can we do? Scroll to the second slide to see what you can do to shop Amazon ethically this holiday season.
