This “way back Wednesday” is a fun one. One of the triathlon events. The sinuses West Coast triathlon series. This was a 1/2 Ironman event, Sunday July 13th, 2008. This was such a beautiful course with the swim at Jericho beach. This was the team version of the race which is so much fun. The team started with a national class swimmer literally flying through the open water to hand off to our cyclist with the lead. The run was along the paths from Jericho beach going out and back towards UBC. The ride takes a bit of time so I had probably too much time to be warming up and also trying to gauge where the cyclist was in the race. Things were also going to be spread out so it was going to be like a hard tempo run for 13 miles. I also realized how great the swimmers split was, then the cyclists was still pretty solid so Ii didn’t want to be looking like a weak link as I know the split would still be posted in the results. I T was such a beautiful course to go out and back on, I was trying to roll those marathons splits run the glory leg for the team. Also got to think about what it would be like to also add the swim and ride to the race. I am sure somewhere deep down I wanted to be an Ironman. It’s more than a run. “Run your run!”
