Thank you to Kelowna Bylaw for hosting this training and for welcoming the attendance of Vernon and Peachland!
Although it was not ideal that the AC broke down at the start of day 1 with 32+ degree heat, this crew battled through it like champs.
Day 3 included Reality Based Training Scenarios, a favourite for participants. The conversation amongst officers combined with working through problems as a group to find creative ways to solve a problem is valuable, in particular for new team members or those new to the City.
Based on the feedback, I’d say the course was a success. Thanks for being awesome, folks! Keep fighting the good fight and stay safe out there.

I feel extremely lucky to be able to deliver training to the folks who help keep my hometown safe.

A wise person once said to me “I’d rather learn a skill I’ll never have to use than need a skill I’ve never learned”.

Walk and Talk with confidence, competence, kindness, empathy, and compassion and the liklihood of ever having to use these skills decreases.

BUT if Violence presents itself… remember- your family wants you home; physically and
emotionally. No door knocks.

Take care of yourselves AND take care of each other.
