Freak Frequencies
03/20/2026
It's a Funding Drive miracle! Dear friend and local music Pesewa will be live on the air this afternoon for a Funding Drive special! We've been dreaming of having Pesewa on the basement closet sessions for years, and today, it is coming true.
Pesewa is the solo musical project of Jeffrey Ellom, a settler of Ewe, Polish and Irish heritage who resides within the unceded territories of the Lekwungen-speaking Peoples. His afrofuturist sound inspires movement and contemplation in turn, integrating indigenous Ghanaian instruments and musical forms with electronic drums and synthesized ambience. As a student of his musical inheritance, Pesewa aims to contribute to the artistic legacies of the Ewe people.
Tune in at 3 PM on 101.9 FM, or online at cfuv.ca to catch Pesewa live, only on

For over 2 years now I’ve hosted my radio show, Freak Frequencies (formerly called Hot Local Singles in Your Playlist) on CFUV 101.9 FM, which also got me into organizing live music events.
Over the past 2 years I've:
- Organized 16 events
- Worked with over 56 artists
- Brought out over 2,500 cumulative attendees
- Paid artists over $25,000
I don't usually like to mention the numbers/stats behind my events and whatnot, but I think it is important to highlight how much this radio station and community hub has enabled me, as an individual, to produce events and work in Victoria's performing arts community while supporting myself and artists.
I would not be doing any of this if it hadn't been for my time at CFUV. The training, community connections and confidence that I've gained from this space has been transformative and brought out sides of me that I didn't know were possible.
If you have the spare funds, please consider donating to the station’s Funding Drive, supporting me and the radio station!
There are a few ways that you can donate/contribute:
1. Donate for thank you gifts (this is where you can dedicate your donation to me! - checkout the designs in the pictures below - https://cfuvfriends.ca/donate/)
2. Get a tax receipt (https://extrweb.uvic.ca/page.aspx?pid=485)
3. Bid in the auction (https://cfuvfriends.ca/auction/) - bidding ends Friday March 21st at 8 PM, or
