Fighting Delays, Building Faster Act, 2025 11/26/2025

Landlord & Tenant Board • Bill 60 • Social Justice Tribunal

In my view, Bill 60 may streamline certain processes, but it largely masks the government’s broader effort to make residential landlording appear more manageable. The reality is that residential tenancies still operate nowhere near the efficiency of commercial leases.

In the commercial context, a landlord can lawfully change the locks for non-payment under clear regulations, and the issue is resolved quickly. Residential landlords, however, remain tied up in procedural delays, appeals, and administrative barriers.

Until Ontario aligns residential non-payment enforcement with the commercial model, these reforms aren’t a true game changer. They help at the margins, but they don’t fix the core imbalance that keeps many small landlords from staying in the market.

Queen's Park looks to fast track legislation banning speed cameras 11/14/2025

https://youtu.be/neNMEffPD_s?si=jiZ2Fafc3sDtECTL

Ontario has officially disabled its automated speeding cameras today, and while I agree it was unreasonable to ticket drivers going just 5–8 km/h over the limit, removing the cameras entirely makes little sense. These systems were expensive to install and could still serve an important purpose when used properly. Instead of targeting minor infractions, the technology should focus on genuinely dangerous speeding—drivers going 20–25 km/h or more over the posted limit in high-risk zones. Used this way, the cameras can still protect communities without penalizing reasonable drivers.

P.S. I myself have incurred over $500 in fines since their inception.
