"No amount of dollars will bring species back from extinction," - Lucero Gonzalez Ruiz, Conservation and Policy Campaigner.
Canada’s nature plan promises $3.8B for protection — but Carney promises unchecked destruction In isolation, the federal government’s new nature strategy, A Force of Nature — released in March and backed by a $3.8-billion commitment to protect 30 per cent of lands and waters by 2030 — might appear like progress.
Yup, you heard that right — our Forest Minister just said that caribou are "not smart" because they get "spooked" by logging, and that's what's driving their extinction.
Eight out of eighteen southern mountain caribou herds are gone, and Ravi Parmar's comment is extremely concerning regarding the future of the remaining ten herds.
We need to mobilize against extinction. Write a letter to Ravi Parmar today: WildernessCommittee.org/Caribou

This is the state of a forest mapped by the federal government as critical spotted owl habitat.
Our fact-finding team just returned from Fire Lake, where we found a BC Timber Sales logging operation mowing down old-growth forests within this federally-mapped critical habitat. Some of the trees being felled are many hundreds of years old.
We urgently need you to write to government leaders and demand protection for these critical forests ➡️ https://www.wildernesscommittee.org/take-action/bc-must-stop-logging-spotted-owl-critical-habitat
