Natural stone, beautiful architectural millwork, and an open-concept were the cornerstones of this recent build for Woodbridge Homes.
Partnering with SSDG Interiors, we were tasked with creating a space that fostered collaboration and made the commute worth it, all the while ensuring every detail — from the flow of light to the finish of the stone — reflected the values of the Woodbridge brand.

Located in the heart of Vancouver, Fusion Projects played a pivotal role in overseeing the design and construction of the Alpha 9 laboratory. The designated space encompassed more than 13,000 square feet, and starting from a bare structure, Fusion Projects transformed it into a versatile mixed-use office area and a state-of-the-art laboratory facility.
To accomplish this, we assembled a dedicated team of consultants, including experts in structural engineering, mechanical systems, and electrical systems. This team was responsible for delivering a wide range of services, starting from the initial assessment phase and continuing throughout the construction process.
Collaboration was key throughout this intricate project. The Fusion team, consisting of project managers, site superintendents, and project coordinators, worked closely and harmoniously with the team of expert scientists from Alpha 9 Labs.
Together, we ensured that the laboratory met all the stringent requirements necessary for its operation, including handling radioactive materials and adhering to strict security and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards.
One of the project's significant challenges involved accommodating a vast array of specialized equipment. To address this, Fusion Projects, in collaboration with engineers, offered innovative and cost-effective solutions for electrical, mechanical (HVAC), and plumbing aspects of the project.
Additionally, we made essential upgrades to the base building to meet the City of Vancouver's specific requirements, such as water and gas meter installations.
We are super proud of our contribution to the success of this remarkable project, and a big thank you to everyone who brought this project together!
Tenant improvement projects pose all sorts of challenges, including this concrete pour for a designated washroom area in the 67-year-old Post building in downtown Vancouver. Site Super Daven breaks it down for us:
Challenge number one arose from the fact we were unable to core into the slab due to the existing tenant below, so we had to get creative.
Working closely with engineers, architects, and field teams, we settled on establishing a raised platform for the washrooms in order to properly run plumbing and drainage lines as needed.
Okay, problem one sorted.
Next, given the volume of concrete required, we had to figure out a way to funnel it efficiently up three floors through a 67 year old building. This required partial street closures and deconstructing one of the building’s fully custom original window in order to make way for the pour lines.
All in all, big props to everyone that came together to ensure the job was done without a hitch.
