Another Happy RMTI Graduate!!
Hello again guys, you asked me to let you know when I got a job after taking your courses. Well I'm very happy to say I am starting on Monday at a nearly new place in Tsawwassen in Delta. The job was advertised on your job board and it said it had a pool and other amenities so I'm glad my worker paid for that pool course as well because I think that clinched it for me. I will recommend your school. I just emailed my worker as well to let her know. I'll let you know how the whole gig works out. Cheers again.

Resident Managers' Training Institute - Become a Certified Building Manager 08/01/2024

British Columbia’s construction boom is creating a boom of another kind for people seeking careers as Apartment/Condominium Managers.

*Continued high demand for housing creates need for many, many more trained Apartment/Condominium Managers!

*Better than ever wages, good discounts on monthly rent and benefits are among the job's attractions!

Everywhere you look there are buildings going up! Greater Vancouver, Fraser Valley, Victoria, Nanaimo, Kelowna, Kamloops – everywhere – this has created a demand never seen before for trained Apartment/Condominium Managers.

There are more jobs in the industry now than we have ever seen in the past 40+ years we have been in business.

On our website www.rmti.ca under our job link page, RMTI graduates can search for jobs with a confidential username and password, there are more than 70 jobs listed across BC and well over a hundred across Canada!

RMTI trains individuals through its three to six week program (students go at their own pace so they may take longer if they need to) CRM – Certified Resident Manager delivered online.

Students are from all across Canada and new immigrants are also showing a keen interest in this job, as well as current Apartment/Condominium Managers who wish to upgrade their skills and knowledge in order to secure a better paying position.

The profession attracts people of all ages largely because the benefits include good salaries and discounts on monthly rent. With monthly housing rental costs being out of control the job of a trained Apartment/Condominium Manager comes with a good rent reduction in 90% of the jobs. One recent graduate was hired in a beautiful building in English Bay and receives a very good salary and a rent reduction from $2800.00 to $800.00 pm plus medical & dental benefits.

Most of the jobs we see these days pay between $40,000 to $85,000 a year plus rent reductions and many other benefits. Of course if one lives on site there are no travelling expenses to get to and from work. If students are looking for a job as a couple and both want to work on the job they can apply to jobs in much larger projects paying much higher wages.

Some of the other benefits of the job may include free parking, hydro, cable, phone, RRSP contributions, bonuses etc.

The old image of "Ma and Pa" managing a building for free rent and a few hundred dollars no longer exists today unless it’s a small building with very few suites and with not much work to do.

Today, with millions of dollars invested in their buildings, developers, owners, investors, government, condominium councils and management companies seek out professionally trained managers to operate them – RMTI provides these trained individuals and has done so for the past 40+ years!

Once training is complete, students receive their CRM – Certified Resident Manager designation and certificate, along with private access to posted jobs on the school's job link page.

Students receive extensive training in managing buildings. For a complete description of the full course outline visit https://rmti.ca/course-outline-fees/

A lot of newer projects (and a number of older ones) contain recreational equipment consisting of pools, spas, hot tubs and jacuzzis. RMTI also offers an online course referred to as the CSPO – Certified Swimming Pool Operator course. It’s a total of 80 hours and can be completed in two to four weeks. Students go at their own pace so you may take longer if you wish. Completion of this course will assist RMTI graduates further to secure a job in a project with this equipment. Full details on the CSPO course can be found at https://rmti.ca/cspo-course-information/

And what are some of RMTI’s successful graduates saying about the CRM – Certified Resident Manager course?

Brad Nelson, a previous graduate of RMTI sent us the following email – “Since obtaining my certificate from the RMTI course in 2018, it has opened MANY doors for me in my chosen career. From the GVRD to the Okanagan to Vancouver Island, employers have been very happy to see RMTI on my resume. I’ve recommended the course to others who are seeking the same sort of career path, and most other managers I’ve met have had the same training. If someone was looking at a career in residential building management, the first advice I would give them would be to take the course”.

David Michel, CRM Graduate, sent us a message sharing the great success he has had since completing the RMTI course. “As a former student of RMTI and CRM graduate, I wanted to share my success story in real estate property management because of RMTI. In 2007 while still living in Canada, I graduated from RMTI with my CRM Certification and then successfully secured a position as an Assistant Building Manager. Later I moved on to a new position as a full time Building Manager and I am now working in the Bahamas in a commercial property management position. I am pleased to say that I am now in the process of purchasing an American property management franchise company. Thank you to RMTI which was the integral beginning to my successful career in the real estate property management industry”.

What do employers that have hired RMTI graduates have to say?

Rod Fram, President, Transpacific Realty Advisors says – “Transpacific is a 3rd party property management company that manages several multi family apartment buildings. We have been using RMTI for over 30 years. It has become increasingly difficult to find dedicated and qualified staff who you can rely on to perform at the level our clients and tenants expect. We have found that RMTI provides the training for building managers to give them a head start in the industry and we have been successful in hiring graduates from their program. Even if you have qualified building managers on board, it would be well worthwhile considering enrolling them in RMTIs course as this will raise the bar in terms of professionalism and knowledge within your company”.

Scott Reid, Property Manager says – “Our industry is inundated with people who think they can run buildings who only see the superficial duties and do not understand most of the underlying factors which make for a good, well-run building. The RMTI course brings these underlying factors to the surface so that new people in the field are aware of what is expected of them. When hiring new people the RMTI certificate is given a positive consideration in the final analysis”.

Ron J. Harvie, Property Manager says – “We consider that any prospective managers who have taken this course have a greater asset to offer their employer. As a Property Manager for many, many years, I highly recommend this course”. And just recently Ron said “Thank you for the opportunity to list on your Job Link Page, we actually did get a very good candidate from your link. Thank you again for your kind assistance”.
