Monday morning, 6 am. The rowers come out for the first row of the week. Smells of an oil slick and diesel fumes hover in the air as motor yachts start up. Only YOU can STOP THIS from GETTING WORSE, but time is running out July 7th. You don't even have to get off the couch to do it. Grab your phone or laptop, go to https://savestanleyparkwaters.ca and fill in the survey. Tell the yacht club and especially the Port of Vancouver that you do not want increased pollution caused by more yachts in Stanley Park. Call 311 or use VanConnect and ask the City of Vancouver and Vancouver Park Board to “get off the couch” and actively oppose this atrocity. Vancouver City Council and in particular Pete Fry for Vancouver as well as Vancouver West End NDP, Spencer Chandra Herbert MLA have spoken up against it, and we hope they will do so again now in the Port's stakeholder consultation. The Vancouver Park Board wants less cars in Stanley Park, so why aren’t they more vocal in lobbying the Port against allowing more motor yachts. All of YOU, stand up for our right to keep the waters off Stanley Park for the public to enjoy.
