One year ago, Vancouver experienced one of the darkest days in our history.
What began as a celebration of culture and community ended in unimaginable loss. Eleven lives were taken, dozens were injured, and families across our city continue to grieve.
For Vancouver’s Filipino community, Lapu-Lapu Day remains a symbol of pride and strength. This anniversary is also a time for reflection. Grief does not fade. It lives on in quiet moments and in the spaces left behind.
To the families and everyone affected, we remember. We stand with you.
Over the past year, we have listened, learned, and worked with community leaders to honour those we lost and strengthen safety at public events.
Today, we remember the lives taken and the compassion that followed. One year later, the pain is still real, but so is the resilience, the love, and our commitment to stand together.
We remember. We are with you. Vancouver will move forward, together.

With the approval of yesterday’s motion, now begins an open and transparent process to identify a qualified proponent to bring Major League Baseball to Vancouver.
League expansion is on the horizon and we know Vancouver would be the ideal home for a new MLB team.
This will be a once-in-a-generation opportunity to bring something really special to Vancouver, stay tuned.
We're excited about the future of community centres in Vancouver, that's why Council is considering a motion next week that would see the largest investment in community centre renewal in the City's history.

Great to meet with Ana Bailão, CEO of Build Canada Homes, to discuss how we can work together to build more homes, faster.
We highlighted Vancouver’s priorities, including replacing aging SROs, and advancing non-market housing, and how they align with the federal goal of delivering affordable housing at scale.
Vancouver is ready to work collaboratively to get homes built.
