Yesterday, a Space became a Place 💚

Four years ago, when we were still a fairly young studio, Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH) took a chance on us. They gave us our very first institutional project: a collaboration with the Squamish Nation to create something truly meaningful for East Vancouver.

It hasn't been a straight line to get here. Between budget shifts and navigating the "fine print" of urban design, this project was a labor of love (and a lot of persistence!).

The Milestone:
Yesterday, we reached substantial completion. But more importantly, we witnessed the powerful raising of a Welcome Figure. Standing there with respected elders, community leaders, and local school kids reminded us why we do what we do 🥁

To our community and partners:
To the contractors, engineers, arborists, and other consultants who help us turn lines on a page into reality - thank you. And to and the , thank you for trusting us with this sacred piece of the neighborhood.

Landscape architecture is about more than just plants, pavers, grades, and CAD drawings. It’s about creating a home for stories to be told. We couldn’t be prouder to see this one begin 🌿🙌

Edmonton is on the map, and that wasn't even our most northern project last year 🗺️

In 2025, we were fortunate enough to help clients across four different provinces / territories and nine regional districts. We also started collaborating on a local project with an architectural office in London, UK.

Although we are a small studio of five, we are proud of our reach. Working with homeowners, builders, and developers across the country is a huge privilege we want to preserve going into 2026. In fact, we are hoping to extend our reach and keep offering exceptional design services in places where they might not always be available.

Farewell 2025, enter 2026! ⛩️

As we step into a new year, we want to make a meaningful entrance.

In landscape design, the entrance is where a home welcomes you in. It sets the tone before the front door ever opens and offers a first impression of what lies ahead. In many ways, it’s a moment of arrival, not just a transition.

Like in this Vancouver project, we often aim to design an entry sequence that guides people naturally. Materials, planting, lighting, and subtle changes in elevation work together to create clarity, comfort, and a sense of calm. This approach encourages you to slow down, look around, and feel grounded. Any home can benefit from an entrance that feels intentional and considered, even if subtle. It does not have to be grand.

The entrance is also the space where everyday life unfolds. Starting the day, greeting guests, and returning after a day at work. To enhance the experience, accessibility and safety are the functional aspects to consider. With that, the tone and feel are set by designing a character through planting, handscape details, and lighting.

The start of a new year is also a transition. From what was to what’s next. A welcoming entrance reflects that same idea. It reminds us that landscape design is about creating moments that feel inviting, meaningful, and worth returning to, day after day.
