Overgrowing
01/04/2026
It's been a while since my last single (and even longer since I used this FB page), but I’ve got something new out! It’s on most major streaming services now: https://tr.ee/bIQtcvHE_i (also on Youtube and Bandcamp!)
This one, Horses of Angelfire, was my way of experimenting with some ways of working that I hadn't done a ton of since I came back to music during the pandemic. I was listening to a lot of CFCF, A.G. Cook and other electronic music and felt inspired by the way they took simple progressions and used layering and automation to give them a constant sense of movement. I wanted to try using some more traditional electronic elements and see if I could combine that with my more out-there impulses.
I've included two other tracks as part of this single- The second one, Undissolved, is based on a short demo I put together early in the pandemic. It remains short, but I enjoyed working on this new version and I like the idea of messing around more with this kind of minimalism in the future.
The third track is the single I released last year, VY Canis Majoris. That inclusion is me capitulating to the current streaming meta by trying a 'waterfall-style' release. That song didn't get much traction, in part due to my unwillingness to promote it properly, so I'm curious to see if this helps at all.
I've got a couple new songs in varying states of completion that I'm excited to share when I can. The plan is shorter track lengths, fewer revisions and perhaps reintroducing vocals to my music if all goes well. I should know better than to try to predict when those will be ready at this point but my hope is sometime during the spring.
