Ceramic Coatings are a semi-permanent layer of protection applied to your car’s paint, windshield, rims, or headlights. They are a great way of protecting any investment put into your vehicle.

There are three main benefits of a ceramic coating, especially on vehicles that are regularly maintained.

1. Protection and Durability- They are a sacrificial layer for your cars clearcoat. Corrosives that get on the paint, such as brake dust or chemicals, can damage your paint and cause rust spots. Ceramics prevent this, and because it is an extremely hard material, it can prevent scuffs and light abrasions in the paint. While they are not scratch proof, it can prevent swirl marks from routine car washing, or scuffs caused by abrasive clothing brushing against it. It also prevents fading caused by UV light and oxidation.

2. Easy Maintenance- A ceramic coating is very hydrophobic, or water repellent. Water will easily roll off of a vehicle that is coated, making washing the car a breeze. This also keeps the vehicle cleaner longer, as the surface becomes incredibly smooth. This doesn’t eliminate the need for car washing but it does make it much easier, while keeping your car clean for longer stretches.

3. Amazing Look- Ceramic coatings look great, adding a deep level of gloss to paint. Many have a “darkening” effect, which makes the paint look more bold and defined. While polishing isn’t necessary, it does remove imperfections to the paint and increases the gloss even more (both vehicles below were polished).

The benefits of ceramic coatings are great, but it is always recommend they be maintained at least twice a year with a maintenance wash.
