A Southwestern Ontario Gothic 5 à 7! (Possibly the first ever?)

Join Andrew Kaufman and Sydney Hegele for an early evening of readings at the Coach House (80 bpNichol Lane, Toronto) on Tuesday, July 14.

Andrew Kaufman! He splits his time between downtown Toronto and the shores of Lake Huron. His work, including Enjoy Your Stay at the Shamrock Motel, The Ticking Heart, and the cult-favourite novel All My Friends Are Superheroes, has won the Relit Award, been nominated for the Leacock Medal for Humour, and been listed among the best books of the year by the Globe and Mail. He works part-time at the Epiphany Detective Agency and in the office of the Shamrock Motel.

Sydney Hegele! A fiction author and essayist from the Greenbelt. They are the author of Bird Suit (Invisible Publishing, 2024), a q***r Southern Ontario Gothic folktale about a tourist town, bird women, and the stories we tell ourselves about interfamilial violence, memory, and blame, which was longlisted for the 2025 Sunburst Award for Excellence in Canadian Literature. They are also the author of The Pump (Invisible Publishing, 2021), winner of the 2022 ReLit Literary Award for Short Fiction and a finalist for the 2022 Trillium Book Award. Their essay collection Bad Kids: A Polyphony is forthcoming with Invisible in Spring 2028.
