Meet Nena — a 3-year-old, 16 lb Schnauzer mix currently being fostered in downtown Toronto. This scruffy little girl has the cutest face, a goofy personality, and the sweetest, most gentle nature.

Nena can be a bit shy at first and takes a little time to warm up, but once she feels safe, her playful and affectionate side truly shines. She loves being close to her people and quickly becomes your little shadow, following you from room to room and always ready for a cuddle.

As she settles in, her silly and loving personality comes out more and more. Nena is incredibly loyal and forms strong bonds, making her a deeply special companion.

She’s still learning the basics of life in a home—she’s currently working on house training and is still building her leash skills, along with learning boundaries, manners, and daily routines. Fortunately, she’s a very good listener with a calm, passive temperament, which makes training a rewarding experience. She’s gentle, eager to please, and responds beautifully to patience, consistency, and kindness.

Because Nena is still new to her foster home, her personality and skills may continue to evolve as she becomes more comfortable. Everything shared here reflects what her foster family has observed so far.

Nena would thrive in a calm, patient home with people who can continue building her confidence and guiding her as she learns. With a little time and a lot of love, she’s blossoming into the well-mannered little princess she was always meant to be.

It just didn’t feel like home. The quiet and stillness felt different. Different because I was use to having not one but two furry companions greet me every day for over 18 years but now there was no one. I decided I needed another furry friend in my life and like I had done previously wanted to adopt. I completed an application for Just Paws for an available dog (can’t remember the name) but she had already been adopted so I waited for another suitable match. And there he was, Swaggy (now Charlie). He’s definitely a Charlie. Fur like silk and the cutest little face ever. He’s perfect. Charlie didn’t need the 3-3-3 rule. He settled in immediately. Still a puppy but so smart. Clean, playful and absolutely the cuddliest dog I’ve ever had. Now my home feels like home. The adoption process with Just Paws was warm, informative and extremely informative and thorough. Charlie’s Foster Parents were totally invested in ensuring he was loved and taken care of. I’m sure this helped me with his transition into his new home. I’m in love and so happy I have Charlie in my life.
