Historical house in the Junction.

"The Birches" at 344 Annette Street (corner of Laws Street.)

This house was built in 1889 for Theodor August Heintzman, founder of Heintzman Pianos. The residence was designed by Toronto architects Knox & Elliott.

One of the large piano factories was located at the east side of Keele Street at Vine Ave. Theodore died in the summer of 1899 when he was 83. Relatives lived in the house until 1920. The house still stands today.

This photo was donated to our archives by Thomas Heintzman Graham.
