City Dogs Training & Behaviour

This week I had one of those unexpected moments where everything suddenly made sense.

I've spent years teaching ESL, training teachers, working with dogs and their humans, mentoring trainers, organizing conferences, and creating ParCORE Dogs.

For a long time, I thought those were all separate chapters of my life.

Then I realized they're all connected by the same thing:

𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡.

Whether I'm helping a fearful rescue dog, coaching a client, assessing a ParCORE instructor, or mentoring a trainer, I'm doing the same thing I've always done:

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄.

Sometimes the learner is a dog.

Sometimes the learner is a human.

At the heart of my work is one question:

"What is the learner experiencing right now?"

That question inspired the philosophy and principles in the graphic below, which now hangs above my desk as a daily reminder of what matters most.

It's funny how sometimes a little reflection can bring your entire career full circle. ❤️🐾
