Last week we said goodbye to the furry love of our lives -Bubi. It took a week for me to write this without breaking down. Even now it’s hard to keep it together. She was with us for a beautiful 17.5 years - born in Korea, raised in Ottawa and Toronto - our little traveller. She was with us almost the entire duration of mine and Hugh’s marriage and our kids’ whole lives. How do you say goodbye to a creature who has given their whole life to love you?

A friend once told me that we don’t deserve dogs - they are love incarnate. It’s true, we probably don’t, but they are so necessary in a world that is often harsh and seems almost loveless at times - they teach us the value of unconditional love and that’s why it’s so hard to say goodbye.

We love you Bubi. Your absence is felt every day in every part our lives and hearts. I hope you’re somewhere with the ones we loved and lost, chasing squirrels and peeing on pinecones.
