📚 1. You’re the author and the publisher
Even authors working with a publishing houses have their editor to catch their mistakes.
An editor becomes your second pair of eyes, a critique, and your quality check.

✂️ 2. Less Is Greater
Children’s books are short—but every word has to be just right.
An editor helps trim the “not” needed words to make every line count.

👧🏽 3. Age-Appropriate Language Matters

Editors ensure your story speaks clearly to your target age group.

With that being said, I've had multiple editors for one book and initially it was quite frustrating to be honest. Advice to the new authors out there, be prepared to have an editor critique the work of your manuscript that was already edited. Also, each editor seems something different and you can honestly get confused as to why no editor edits alike.

Here’s a simple guide to help you begin…hope this helps you in your own journey to becoming a writer!

1️⃣ Start with an idea – Usually as authors we write about things that we are passionate about or books that we feel kids would enjoy reading.

2️⃣ Know who you’re targeted readers are– are you going to write ➡️ Picture book? Early reader? Chapter book?

3️⃣ Read lots of children’s books – Study how they’re written.

4️⃣ Write your story – Start, because as you being to write you will discover more about yourself and writing

5️⃣ Your not alone in your writing process. Get an editor – Don’t publish anything without having your work reviewed. From my experice it may take a few different editor before your story is ready to be published.

6️⃣ Believe in your voice – Over the years I have met some many authors who said it took them 10 or 15 years to finally get their manuscript out there. Sometimes it can be self doubt that blocks you from achieving your goals.

💬 Thinking about writing a book and you haven’t yet done it? What is the one thing that is stopping you from writing?

Children naturally pick up languages from an early age—so give them the gift of words !

Young minds are like sponges, soaking up sounds, meanings, and rhythms effortlessly. The earlier they’re exposed to a new language, the more naturally they’ll learn it.

Books are one of the best tools to support this journey.
Through colorful stories and simple vocabulary, books make learning feel like play—not study.
