This one’s for my anime fans. I brought a few anime’s to life on these custom Nike Air Force 1s for a birthday gift!🎨👟
Featuring Luffy from One Piece, Uncle Iroh from The Last Airbender, and Killua Zoldyck from Hunter x Hunter. I really like the blocking and line work on this pair and finding ways to make the characters fit within the panels of the shoes.
In future anime projects (got a big one coming up😉), I’m looking forward to honing my line work skills and trying a few different techniques to make the characters really pop off the shoe.

To shed some light on how I made the shoes, whenever I have multiple pairs in an order, this is the general process I take with all of them. I batch the same parts of the process so that I don’t have to back step and repeat tasks.

I want to highlight what changes between each pictures, so here is each slide broken down to its contents:
Slide 1 - Reference (Pre touch ups)
Slide 2 - White base coat for the liner
Slide 3 - Outstep gradient
Slide 4 - **Middle bar**
Slide 5 - Stencil
Slide 6 - Pre touch ups
Slide 7 - Mid touch ups
Slide 8 - Sealing
Slide 9 - Laced up
Slide 10 - Final Pictures
-
** The middle bar technique uses a mix of the two colours of a gradient to seamlessly blend them together. It’s essential for any gradient work.

At this point I’ve shared so much about the process I’ve almost run out of things to say. This build taught me so much and it was a really fun silhouette to take on. I’ve always liked them from when they first released, and to have it come full circle in this way is really surreal.
-
I’m looking forward to applying everything I learned from this build in other projects and constantly improving my knowledge, skill, and craftsmanship.

This pictures was created on using the new generative A.I tool.

Keeping the theme going, these are the pairs I brought to life for their 2022 season. I’ve been working with Toronto Ultra for the past 3 years now, and every year we always manage to do something new and unique from the year previous.
This pair features an iridescent drip swoosh using pigments from , Toronto Ultra logos and branding, a painted sock liner and tongue using the Toronto Ultra Ultra-Violet, and custom tongue tabs. There was a lot of back and fourth on this design, but when they sent me the first concept and said “holographic” in the description, I knew exactly what I was going to use. I’ve used on previous projects and it worked perfect for this one too. Make sure you check them out if you’re looking for something really out of the box on your next project.
Let me know what you think of this design, and what y’all think would be cool to include in future designs!
