Peterborough Swim Club Hosts Successful 2026 PTBO Spring Invitational at Trent University

The Peterborough Swim Club successfully hosted the 2026 PTBO Spring Invitational on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Allan Marshall Pool.

The meet featured three separate sessions throughout the day for 10 & Under, 11–12 year old, and 13 & Over swimmers. The club welcomed athletes and families from five visiting clubs representing Ajax, Whitby, Pickering, Port Hope, and Lindsay.

Over 260 swimmers took part in the competition. Across the three sessions, swimmers competed in 17 events totaling more than 720 individual swims. The day also included four exciting eliminator-style events designed to test swimmer speed, endurance, and racing strategy.

Peterborough Swim Club athletes delivered an impressive performance in front of their home crowd, earning a total of 34 medals, including 14 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze medals.

During the meet, the club recognized graduating swimmers Elise Furgal, Addy Hoyle, and Rielle MacDougall before their final swims at their last home meet with the club.

The meet also marked the successful debut of the club’s new Time Drops Wireless Timing System and Swiss Timing starter system. The equipment was purchased earlier this year with support from the City of Peterborough through its Community Investment Grant program.

The Peterborough Swim Club is extremely grateful for the support received through the City of Peterborough’s Community Investment Grant program, which allowed the club to modernize its meet equipment and improve the overall competition experience for swimmers, coaches, officials, volunteers, and spectators. The club’s previous timing system had begun to fail, making this investment critical for the future of hosted competitions

For the first time, all three sessions of the meet were livestreamed through the club’s YouTube channel, , allowing family members and supporters unable to attend in person to follow the competition throughout the day. Viewers can continue to watch replay coverage of all sessions on the club’s YouTube channel.

The club also acknowledges the tremendous efforts of its volunteers, officials, coaches, and families who helped make the event possible.

Hosting visiting clubs and families travelling to Peterborough from communities outside of Peterborough County continues to help strengthen the city’s reputation as a destination for competitive swimming events and community sport tourism.

The Peterborough Swim Club looks forward to building on the success of this hosted meet in future seasons and continuing to establish Peterborough as a premier location for swim competitions.

Club members will next travel to Brock University this weekend to compete in the Huronia Region Long Course Team Challenge, where clubs from across the Huronia Region will race in the university’s 50-metre pool.
