We are often asked what moisturizers are best for dry skin and our team is always happy to share their favourites.
Currently our favourite moisturizers for dry skin include:
💖 ClearStem Hydraberry Moisture Mask - Dr. Newell ND, our product curator, is loving this moisturizing mask as a rich, thick moisturizer during these winter months. She reports that she has been layering it over top of the Fitglow Beauty Vita Rich Crémé for intense hydration and plumping.
💖 Cosmedix Reboot Overnight Hydration Complex - this hydrating serum can be layered under your favourite moisturizer both morning and evening. It works particularly well with the Cosmedix Emulsion Intense Moisturizer.
💖 Ere Perez Wild Tomato Riche Créme - this moisturizer has a rich buttery texture that sinks into skin for optimal hydration and contains antioxidant-rich tomato seed oil full of lycopene and vitamin C that evens skin-tone, transform dullness and restore your skin's glow.

SPF season is here. Let’s decode the label - properly. ☀️
There’s a lot of sunscreen misinformation floating around (some of it parroted by people who really should know better). Let’s get evidence-based. Save this one. 📌
🧴 SPF Number
SPF measures protection against UVB rays (the ones that cause burning). SPF 30 blocks ~97%. SPF 50 blocks ~98%. After 50, the gains are marginal - but reapplication matters far more than chasing a higher number.
🧴 “Broad Spectrum”
Non-negotiable. This means protection against both UVA and UVB. UVA rays don’t burn you, but they drive premature aging, pigmentation, and long-term DNA damage. They also pass through windows. (Yes, even on a rainy Tuesday at your desk.)
🧴 Mineral vs. Chemical - Let’s Bust a Myth
You’ve probably heard that mineral sunscreens “sit on top of the skin and reflect UV like a mirror.” It’s a great marketing line. It’s also not how they actually work.
The truth: both mineral and chemical filters primarily absorb UV radiation and convert it to a small amount of heat. Mineral filters (zinc oxide, titanium dioxide) reflect only a tiny fraction of UV - the vast majority is absorbed, just like chemical filters.
So don’t stress about mineral vs chemical and just choose a sunscreen you like wearing and be consistent!
🧴 What About “Reef-Safe”?
Here’s another one: “reef-safe” is a marketing term, not a regulated or scientifically defined one. Current evidence does not support the claim that sunscreen ingredients meaningfully contribute to coral bleaching - climate change, rising ocean temperatures, and pollution are the established drivers. Choose your sunscreen based on what protects your skin best, not based on a label with no scientific backing.
🧴 Reapplication
Every 2 hours of direct sun. Every time you sweat or swim. One morning application is not protecting you at 3pm. The best sunscreen is the one you’ll actually reapply.
