Has this ever happened to you? You walk into the room - and the freezer door is open. This happened to my mother and father-in-law this spring with their second freezer in their basement. Someone had left the freezer door cracked and all the food was defrosted. Did you know that your alarm system can prevent this from happening to you?

I put a wireless sensor on their freezer so now they get a text message if the freezer is open for 30 minutes and then I get a text message if its still open after an hour. This has now saved them twice through the summer (both on days that they were babysitting my 3-year old son...). The wireless contact is much cheaper than replacing all the food in the freezer, much less doing so twice.
