Featuring Composer: Chiyoko Szlavnics

Chiyoko Szlavnics is a Canadian-born composer and visual artist, based in Berlin since 1998. Her music spans acoustic and electroacoustic works for concerts and installations, exploring perceptual phenomena such as beating and combination tones through pure intervals, clusters, sustains, and glissandi. Since 2005, she has created over thirty commissioned works for leading soloists, ensembles, and festivals, including Quatuor Bozzini, Eve Egoyan, Ensemble Contrechamps, Exaudi, Klangforum Wien, Musikfabrik, Donaueschinger Musiktage, and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Her work has been widely broadcast and documented, with portrait CDs on Neu Records, Another Timbre, and World Edition.
