Last night when the four seasons centre curtain came down and the applause slowly died away, I was left with so many memories, emotions and feelings of incredible gratitude to a company that has been both a family to me, and has also given me one. For 19 seasons I have had the joy, honor and privilege sharing Canada’s greatest operatic stage performing as a COC Chorus tenor along with understudies and supporting roles at the Canadian Opera Company.

Singing in 124 productions has been an amazing journey. Each time I stepped onto that stage, the ghosts of productions past were always there. The echoes of powerful choruses, friends who have left us, and moments of absolute theatre magic.

As I step away to focus on my family, im grateful for every moment. I walked into the audition room at 227 Front St all these years ago and walked out with a life: a partner, a child, and a chosen family of fellow artists. I have played nobles, beggars, lovers, and fools, and more than enough stories to fill a book. Maybe one day I’ll write it. Thank you COC for every note and thank you for your incredible leadership, guidance and accepting me into this world class chorus.
