By 2030, AI hardware could generate up to 5 million tonnes of e-waste annually, making up nearly 12% of global totals. From GPUs and servers to cables and racks, these components contain critical materials like lithium, cobalt, copper, and rare earths—and demand a smarter strategy at end-of-life.

AI’s growth doesn’t have to mean more waste. It’s time to rethink infrastructure lifecycles and design recovery into every phase.
