Jumping out of bed in the morning and spending a few quiet moments in the backyard is one of my favourite things to do in summer.
Getting out in nature and appreciating the beauty that surrounds me, helps to relieve stress, lower blood pressure and stress hormones, clear my mind, boost my mood and immune system, support my microbiome (thereby improving digestion and probably everything else) and can also help to slow down a racing mind.
All for free.
Hope you can enjoy your dose of nature today too.

I’m Diane Murphy, Nutritionist for women who are living with or recovering from breast cancer. One of the first things I help her to do, is to try her hand at juicing if she hasn't done it before.
Why start with juicing?
Developing habits are key for a sustainable nutrition plan. Jumping in with both feet and doing EVERYTHING at the start can get incredibly overwhelming so I pick juicing to start, if she’s ready for it.
Our goal is to help saturate her healthy cells with loads of nutrients….QUICKLY.
Cancer thrives in a nutrient deficient body and a lack of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants etc. leave the cells less able to repair themselves against damage from medications, treatment, environmental toxins, diet, stress and of course cancer itself.
While throwing the veggies in a blender and making a smoothie can be very nutritious, the fibre in the veggies (plus additional protein and healthy fat) will fill her up too fast. She can get more from her juice. She doesn’t lose out on the fibre, she just eats it later on in the day.
What does she juice?
The general rule of thumb is to EAT fruit and JUICE veggies. Some great veggies to start with that aren't usually too gassy (like cabbage can be) are cucumbers, celery, carrots, beets (and the beet greens), kale, spinach, fresh turmeric and fresh ginger. However, green apples are low glycemic and add a really nice flavour.
How much does she juice?
This depends if she has active cancer or not, if she is in the middle of treatment or not, does she have an appetite or not…so we work this out together.
If you know anyone who would benefit from this info, please share. If you are trying to reduce your risk of cancer or cancer recurrence, or need more energy, better sleep, healthier hair, skin, nails, body....juicing is a great strategy.

Toronto, June 16-18, 2023. Full days, full of progressive and intense information.
Looking so forward to connecting with like-minded people who are also trying to help close the massive gap between the conventional and alternative healthcare systems when it comes to cancer care and recovery. These 2 worlds aren't mutually exclusive and can really benefit from advocating for their patients and working together.
So I'm putting the gym on hold this weekend and working out my brain.
I'm so fortunate and so excited to be attending this conference right here in Toronto this weekend!
Stay tuned...

Bloodwork is always nice to see, especially when it’s stabilizing or going in the right direction, but that’s not always available.
My favourite measure of progress is how she feels when she starts implementing powerful, whole food strategies, especially if she has undergone conventional treatment.
I love it when she can begin feel her quality of life improving because her:
Energy is going up
Joints are less achy
Mind is clearer
Sleep is better
Hair and nails are growing stronger
Skin is clearing up
Feelings of stress are not so intense
When she can feel progress, she can do more. She can drive her car, go for a walk, and make her own food. She can be a mom, which is everything to her. She is more empowered when she feels better and is more ready to do what she needs to do in a day.
I’ve seen many, many different and amazing health transformations in my 15 years as a Nutritionist. My clients didn’t need piles and piles of money or need to eat “weird, hard to find foods”, what she needed was a strong will to thrive, a genuine desire to make changes and a dedicated, knowledgeable, experienced person to guide and hold her hand through it.
And that’s who I am and that's what I do.
