Understanding Your Out-of-Province Government Medical Coverage 04/02/2026

If you're looking to travel across Canada 🇨🇦 , you may assume that your medical services is covered with your provincial/territorial health card.

Recently, I researched into how provincial health coverage works outside your home province and the gaps are bigger than most people expect.

For example:
• You may have to pay out of pocket and wait for reimbursement (especially when receiving medical services in QC).
• Coverage is often capped at your home province’s rates.
• Services like ambulances or prescriptions may not be fully covered.

And what happens when you leave Canada? Coverage is limited and restricted to basic medical services, such as seeing a physician or visiting a hospital.

It’s one of those things people don’t think about, until they need it.

In my article for RBC Insurance, I break down what your provincial plan actually covers (and what it doesn’t), so you can understand the type of travel medical insurance you may need before you pack your bags.

Curious to know, have you ever had to use medical care while travelling?

Life Insurance for Small Business Owners: Why it Matters | RBC Insurance 01/14/2026

As small business owners, we spend a lot of time thinking about growth, revenue, and daily operations. Yet, we spend far less time thinking about what happens if something unexpected occurs.

In this RBC Insurance article, I explain why life insurance is a personal and business decision, and how it can help entrepreneurs:

- Protect their family and dependents
- Ensure business continuity
- Use insurance in a tax-efficient way
- Fund buy-sell agreements and succession plans
- Select coverage that matches with their stage of business

Whether you’re a sole proprietor, have business partners, or are thinking about long-term succession, this is an area that’s often overlooked but plays an important part of managing financial risks.

If you're earning less than $60,000 a year, you may be better off with a no-annual fee credit card instead of paying for a premium one.

You can earn cashback rewards or loyalty points without needing to meet high spending thresholds.

In my article for MooseMoney, I compare five no-annual-fee credit cards. I created a fictitious budget for an Ontarian who earns $60,000 in gross income.

The Rich List - Macleans.ca 11/19/2025

I've never typed so many zeros before. Why you ask? Because I was given the opportunity to do a deep dive for this year’s Maclean’s magazine: The Rich List 💰 which featured the top 40 billionaires in Canada.

It’s fascinating to see how wealth in Canada shifts year to year, from legacy industries that built the foundation to the new wave of tech founders and investors reshaping it.

My role focused on the research behind the rankings: digging through public filings, estimating private company valuations, and double-checking every figure to make sure it all adds up.

It was a mix of detective work and data storytelling (with plenty of spreadsheets 🤑 🧾), but worth it to uncover how fortunes are built and how they change over time.

If you ever need thoughtful, in-depth research to support a story, project, or publication, I’d love to connect and share how I can help.
