What an incredible and heart warming experience. Not only were we so fortunate to learn a lot about Sotol which it’s almost impossible to find accurate information about, but we also had the pleasure and honour to hear the way it’s made straight from the best in the business, they all have captivating stories, some of them mind blowing and humbling since they’re some of the hardest working and giving people I’ve met, with the biggest hearts welcoming strangers into their home and sharing these memories, some of them very sad and frustrating due to the giants in the business (people with way more marketing and production money in order to launch their brands for export) trying to take advantage of other’s economical reach but also learned that there is a big problem of over harvesting this very interesting Sotol plant.
But most importantly, I made such amazing friends that I learned so much from and share these beautiful experiences with.

Gracias Nathan for inviting me to be part of this! Gracias Randall for all your knowledge about fermentation and distillation science! I look forward to visiting you in Oaxaca! Gracias Sandro for introducing us to these beautiful maestros and their families and teaching us so much about the industry! I know we only scratched the surface but I cannot wait to keep learning and sharing this knowledge with others!

We are excited to announce the return of the Woodford Reserve Manhattan Experience for 2023!
This year the programming has changed with regards to regional events, timelines, prizing, & finals.

Bartenders will be submitting their “Perfect Manhattan” & their “Original Cocktail” recipes online to a panel of judges. If your recipes score high, you will be invited to the Canadian Finale in Toronto Canada on August 16, 2023.
 
In Toronto, you & the seven other top bartenders will make both cocktails live for a panel of Judges. There will be no competition with the US markets & the Toronto event will crown Canada’s Master of the Manhattan!
 
The winner will receive;
·       3-day immersive education trip to Louisville, KY
·       $5000 cash prize
·       Profiles on Food & Wine & Travel & Leisure’s Websites
·       Exclusive Woodford Reserve Swag + collaboration throughout the year.
 
Competition Timeline
May 7 – June 15 – Online submission portal is open at Liquor.com
June 19 – July 5 – Online Judging by Liquor.com & liquid Pro
August 14-28 – Regional Finales (Toronto, Chicago, NYC, Miami, & San Francisco will each crown a winner)

Spring in Versailles

-1.5 Oz Woodford Reserve Rye
-0.75 Oz Amaro Montenegro
-0.25 Oz Green Chartreuse
-1 dash of Angostura Bitters
-2 dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters
-Stirred, served in a coupe glass
-topped with rosé and cucumber cordial foam, sprinkled with dried rose petals
