Temporal Waves is a new project from renowned Canadian tabla player Shawn Mativetsky, transporting the tabla into a retro-future cinematic sound world. Inspired by sounds of his childhood years growing up with Atari, Nintendo, and early PCs, along with a retro 80s dystopian sci-fi vision of the future, the music carries a message about the environment, and our need to balance our relationship with nature and technology. Tabla, bathed in the neon glow of analog synthesizers, Temporal Waves is an excursion deep into aural science fiction.

Lavender Town is a Toronto-based alternative jazz fusion group. Formed over a string of live shows in Toronto’s underground live music scene, Lavender Town was created around the idea of combining jazz fusion with a sound hailing from modern genres such as rock, underground hiphop, and EDM. Their performances highlight their individual improvisational styles while blending influences from contemporary groups such as KNOWER and Kneebody, as well as classic jazz fusion legends like Herbie Hancock and Joe Henderson.

Just a week away! Intersection Day 2 we return to for our trademark experimental music marathon in the square! Intersection began as this single day marathon event, and this year we return to our roots with a special focus on local and Canadian post-genre talent throughout the day on the main stage along with installations and local vendors in the square!
