AI isn't the answer for everything. K&L Gates partner Amy Groff said plainly in a recent panel on AI and access to justice: “There are some situations where the service we provide as lawyers is listening to someone and talking to them.”

And University of Michigan Law School professor Vivek Sankaran reframed the question: what if AI gave lawyers more time for exactly those moments? And beyond clients, he asked, might it give the legal profession more space to be human with itself, in a field where burnout has become an accepted baseline?
