La Rumba Buena
02/16/2026
This city is overflowing with talent and we need to celebrate that every dang day.
With that, on Saturday, February 28th at we’re proud to announce the Rumba debuts of not one, but two (!!) of the city’s shining lights: Ana Luisa () and NYHTNURSE ()
Ana Luisa (), making her vinyl debut (!!!!), is a DJ, promoter and creative producer from Caracas, Venezuela. As a Toronto scene mainstay since 2020, she has taken local, national and international stages with her selection of latin rhythms. Her tracks have been released on numerous labels and she is one of the minds behind Veneno, one of Toronto’s most iconic parties platforming Latin American electronic music.
NYHTNURSE (she/her) is a DJ and vinyl collector with Afro-Indigenous roots in Panamá. Her growing collection embodies rhythms that have crossed oceans and cultivated sounds of resistance, liberation and love. Her crates come full of Latin and Caribbean gems. Her sets are an invitation to collectively explore new, exciting and nostalgic sounds!
Tickets on sale NOW. We’ve got a feeling (a premonition, even) that Ana Luisa and NYHTNURSE are going to burn it down 🔥🔥🔥 (musically). This is going to be one for the books, people (you know the book is always better than the movie 😉). Tickets will go quick and we are going to turn UP for this one.
Flash fact: the very first Rumba was held in February 2016. So, this is our 10-year anniversary. We’ll be celebrating all year, but come raise a toast with us this month as we celebrate surpassing any and all hopes we had for the party when we started out on a cold Toronto night at Dovercourt and Bloor (shoutout to Yauca’s - gone but not forgotten).
Much love to ALL of you ❤️🔥 Let’s dance.

Recap (verbal clap portion): what a wonderful way to end the year. The joyful chaos that is Rumba was in *full* effect (and we wouldn’t have it any other way). made his Rumba debut and showed why he long ago achieved legendary status in Toronto and beyond. put us all on to new records (and kept us dancing!) as only he can. And our dear sister La Colocha () breezed through from the Windy City and laid down a set of Cumbia treats.
Recap (lore portion): December can be TRICKY for parties in Toronto. Tons going on. It’s cold af. It’s midnight-dark at 4 pm. In short: conditions are not conducive to leaving our homes. And still, Rumba was *bumping* and was so full of the loving energy that keeps inspiring us to do this FOR YOU every dang month. We appreciate you and we’ll keep telling you how blessed we feel (cause it’s real). Join us next year as we celebrate our tenth anniversary (special jams ALL year).
Thank you to: .maker for the beautiful photos 📸 for being our door-person extraordinaire (and just one of our straight up fave people - you a real one, Liz!). we’re gonna keep saying it: THE PEOPLE’S CLUB! We appreciate this space now more than ever. Big shoutout to the Theos (x2) and Austin for holding it down for us this month 🙏
See you in 2026, people. Much love ❤️🔥

First, to everyone reading this, thank you for such an incredible year. When we started Rumba we never could have envisioned going into our tenth year (!!!) on such a high. La vida te da sorpresas (and Rumba continues to be a beautiful one). This month, to celebrate the season and the end of the year, we are joined by not one, but TWO Toronto salsa legends.
We’re honoured to have Giovanni Torres aka playing his FIRST Rumba ever (long overdue!). Gio was born and raised in Medellin, 🇨🇴, surrounded by salsa music, teaching, and dancing, and he’s been sharing his passion with the world for over 30 years.
In his words, “Djing and teaching is my passion, collecting great Latin music has been my hobby for many years…I play from my heart and feel the music I play. I envision myself dancing, and therefore, I envision others dancing to their fullest.”
Not to be outdone, we have Rumba family and “your favourite dancer’s favourite DJ”, back in the house. If you’ve experienced a Timber set before, you KNOW the love and joy radiating off him while he plays is infectious. And don’t sleep on his new Salsa Fresh Sounds series (every Friday on his IG - spreading that musical love).
Plus, if we can get our act together in time, we might even have some holiday presents for you 🎁. All going down at aka THE PEOPLE’S CLUB. Tickets on sale *now* - they’ll go quick (and it will be more at the door, family).
Happy holidays and love to one and all.
