...a very productive two days arranging my Cello Solo 'Fires" for Violin! Commissioned by CONTACT contemporary music with the financial assistance of the Laidlaw Foundation in 2004, hoping to announce a performance with Violin sometime soon-there's been an offer by a very prominent Canadian Violinist! The title is a reference to the Bonfires of the Vanities ".. of 7 February 1497, when supporters of the Dominican friar Girolamo Savonarola collected and burned thousands of objects such as cosmetics, art, and books in the public square of Florence, Italy, on the occasion of Shrove Tuesday, martedì grasso."
