Mary Gardiner was a pianist, educator, mentor, award-winning composer, champion of Canadian music, and a long-serving president of ACNMP. This award is made possible through memorial donations and the generosity of the Gardiner family and Eva Michalak, honoring Mary’s enduring legacy and commitment to excellence in performance.

Congratulations to Simon Stadt from Edmonton Showcase, recipient of the 2025 Ann Southam Award (Junior)! 🏆

Ann Southam was one of Canada’s first prominent women composers. An electronic and classical music composer, she was known for blazing a trail for women composers. This award, established by her family, honours Ann’s legacy by celebrating the continuum of Canadian female composers.

✨So I’m starting to accept that this is real - though it feels absolutely unbelievable.

✨Thank you to for your beautiful creations. It is an absolute privilege to play your music, and it continues to make me a better pianist and musician. Your blessing on this project means everything.

✨Thank you for being the most amazingly musical, professional, and skilled engineer (and therapist/support person). You - alone - created the sound of a concert hall that is somehow also intimate (and our space was neither!).

✨Thank you for being a wonderful distributor - I never could have put everything together and shared it so thoroughly.

✨And of course thank you to for putting up with me (especially through edits!) and to my precious family and friends for supporting me always. I love you so much.
