Amref Health Africa in Canada

Ahead of National Philanthropy Day, we’re celebrating one of our longtime monthly donors, Gwynneth Evans.

Gwynneth’s connection to Amref Health Africa began over 40 years ago, but her journey with Africa started long before that.

In the late 1960s, she taught in Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Southern Sudan, living with local families and experiencing the joys and challenges of post-independence life. During that time, she first encountered Amref.

She’s visited our programs over the years and has valued seeing lasting impact. We love one of her favourite metaphors for Amref’s approach: “Amref is like a gardener, nurturing communities from the roots up, ensuring growth is sustainable and meaningful.”

We’re so grateful for Gwynneth and for all our monthly donors whose consistent support is empowering communities across Africa to grow stronger every day.
