Roots and Branches Dance Program

Hey everyone!

Hope you are well!

Giving thanks for a new year and a new dance term at Roots and Branches. After starting back last fall with series of cross GTA pop ups, we settled in nicely at PB & Interplay Dance Academy in Scarborough. Our drums have been warmly welcomed and we were able to achieve a a first performance as an Intergenerational cast at the Toronto International Dance Festival only after 5 weeks of starting to work together. The SCYDE generation met the R&B generation through mothers dancing with daughters while aunties and daddies made the music. Together we made magic!
We are excited to do even more in 2024.

Dance class continues and this term we are looking at Carnival dances with a focus on Pique, Calypso and Sailor. Body wise we are focussed on improving our stretching, refining our dance technique and building our performance stamina. Skirt required.

The tradition continues: the first Saturday after thanksgiving Roots & Branches begins dance class in Ajax on Saturdays. Our term runs from October 14 - Dec 16. This term our classes are drum based, Intergenerational, and in a black owned space! Contact us for early bird pricing! [email protected]

Good evening Beautiful Bodies! Tommrow we move our drum roots and our dance branches to Toronto Barre Collective at 2199 Bloor st west. They have graciously welcomed us and we are so grateful to be moving with famalay!!
Cost is $20 but special $10 rates for anyone $35+, student, or needing $ ease! We got you! Looking to explore dances of gratitude and harvest through baskets and Bele!lol
