On June 24 2026, Cara Clairman (President and CEO of Plug’n Drive) joined a panel alongside Richard Zhang (VP, Investments, Energy at Brookfield Asset Management), and Rachel Doran (Executive Director, Clean Energy Canada), moderated by Claire Seaborn (Counsel at Torys LLP), to discuss the role of electric vehicle adoption and manufacturing in Canada's energy transition at the Opening Symposium of the Toronto Meeting on the Economics of Climate Change.

The event successfully brought together researchers and industry professionals from across the energy sector to share insights into the shifting economic landscape amid growing environmental pressure and Canada’s role as a global player in the renewable energy transition.

Panellists highlighted several key factors impacting the widespread adoption of EV technology in Canada. Consumer demand stood out as a recurring theme, with education identified as an important obstacle. “One of the most significant barriers to EV adoption in Canada is education,” noted Clairman.
