We’re feeling a lot of gratitude following our Iftar Night Market. Thank you to everyone who helped us bring a Mabelle Arts tradition into a new season and for braving the wintery night with us! Thank you, lantern and moon watcher builders of all ages! Thank you to the young cooks who cooked and tested our signature recipes! Thank you, Tazi & Octi Bakerii for food leadership and keeping us happy with sweet and savoury snacks around the fire. To Michael Burtt and Pat Austin for keeping us warm around the fire physically and heartfully. Also, special thank yous are going to the guest artists who brought beauty and magic to the night! The Diar Band: Tarek Ghriri (guitar), Nour (percussion), Asser Abdo (vocals), Puppeteer Afsaneh Zamani, who made birds and ladies dance, architectural designers Safoura Zahedi and Mark Francis, who taught us about the significance of lanterns in Islamic knowledge and who designed and built the Symmetry Lantern installation with us. Also, thank you to Newcomer Artist in Residence Katrin Faridani of Faridani Foto and WTTN Newcomer Artist Ambassador Rishikesh Sharma, who developed our Shedding Light lantern workshops and the installation with the language learner clients from Skills for Change, and lastly to Lukas Barron for bringing flute tunes into the night air to lead us round the park to follow and find the moon!
