THANKSGIVING SERVICE IN HONOUR OF DR. AKUTAH PIUS BY UCHA COMMUNITY STILL HOLDING

The Central Planning Committee for the Thanksgiving Service and Reception in honour of the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Esq., MON, wishes to address a misleading statement issued by the Chairman of Ukum Local Government Council, Mr. Jonathan Modi, alleging that the event has been cancelled.

We categorically affirm that the Thanksgiving Service and Reception will hold as scheduled. The event has not been cancelled.

Working in close collaboration with the Senator representing Benue North-East Senatorial District, Barr. Emmanuel Memga Udende, who is also the Chief Host of the occasion, the Committee has secured all required approvals from the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Police Force, and other relevant security agencies. Personnel from the DSS, Police, Military, and sister security bodies have already been deployed to ensure a smooth, well-coordinated, and secure event on Sunday, 7th December 2025.

With these approvals in place, the Thanksgiving Service stands as a fully lawful gathering. Attendees are peaceful, law-abiding citizens exercising their constitutional rights. There is no security threat whatsoever, contrary to the inaccurate claims circulated by Mr. Jonathan Modi.

The public is therefore advised to hold Mr. Modi accountable should any security issue arise, as his actions amount to intimidation and an attempt to unlawfully obstruct a duly approved, peaceful event which is a direct affront to constitutional freedoms.

We are peaceful citizens who understand our rights and responsibilities. We urge Mr. Modi to channel his energy toward delivering democratic dividends to the people of Ukum rather than promoting misinformation or attempting to undermine our liberties.

The Ucha Community, working with conventional security agencies, has put every necessary measure in place to ensure a safe and successful celebration.

The public is hereby urged to disregard the false announcement issued by Mr. Jonathan Modi.
